Daddy decided that even though Andrew doesn't currently watch any TV, and we are hoping to really limit his TV to a few passing shows until he is a little older (could be years, but most likely this will be weeks or months from now!), he would get the Baby Einstein DVD's.
I found on eBay that you can get a full set of the DVD's (21 of them) in one little case. I think that they are printed overseas and imported, but everything is in English and it all looks great.
Quite a deal at $80 for all 21 disks considering that they usually sell (new) for $15 a piece!
Hopefully we can use them for some cross country trip (like heading back to IN for Christmas) or going up to Maine for a vacation or something like that!
Now, to figure out what type of viewing screen that Andrew will use! That is for another year!

Kiddie Kandids today!
Daddy and Andrew went out to get some pictures made up at a local Kiddie Kandids place. It was a lot of fun once the pictures were developed, but in getting the little man to: wake up, get aclimated to a strange place, meet a strange and wacky woman, adjust to a camera lens and all this while trying to get a smile and get him to look into the camera.
I was so glad that we were able to get out and get some pictures taken for his 8 month pictures. He looks SO grown up now. I was torn in picking out his outfits, but settled on a more formal one with a sweater vest and dressy white shirt, and another with a striped colorful shirt and some jeans.
He was too cute! I will post the pictures to the blog as well so that you can see the results.
It was kinda funny as the photographer at the store was kinda thrown that it was Andrew and his Dad in the store as she said that not many fathers come into the store with such a youngster and she said that I was her first to do it as a "surprise" for Momma. She chuckled after it was over and dug into a drawer and pulled out a coupon for poor old Dad who didn't have one when he went to the store with this idea for Momma.
I picked up a lot of pictures and even got them on disk, so hopefully the pictures are stored on a standard format and not some crazy copy protection format with digital rights management embedded.
Hope to post the pictures soon!

Andrew on his mat - Part 2
| Some more of the little guy. I just wanted to make sure that we get some video up here prior to his growing up and running around where I can't put a camera on a table or on the ground and just enjoy it! -Daddy | |

Out for a walk!
Andrew and I went out for a nice walk this morning to let Momma have a little more sleep. I really enjoy this time as every weekend we take either Saturday or Sunday morning (sometimes both if we are lucky!) and get out for a walk at the park.
This morning we started out at 7:30 and headed out for the park. We used the jogger this morning and it worked out just perfect. I took a toy for each lap and Andrew worked it out just perfectly. He was getting tired with each toy after playing with it for a lap each. So we made it for three laps (5 miles total) prior to him dozing off.
Once he nodded off we went for another half lap and then sat down on a bench and watched the world go by. Of course he is the hit with everyone out at the park every time we head out, and this was no exception.
For the first lap we said hi to everyone and Andrew shot that beautiful smile out to everyone who would wave to him. By the second lap they were all wanting to chat with him and feel one of those little legs of his! By the third lap everyone was pointing out that I finally wore him out after all that walking. He even had one pair of momma's leave their own little ones to come over and feel the little guys little hands and feet (all while he was still sleeping through it!).
We had a lot of fun and Daddy got some good exercise this morning. We were able to come back, get some breakfast, and see Momma! Yea!!!
It was a great morning...

Summer pictures...
I looked and I have not posted any pictures since the accident in June! A few videos when we were playing around with the posting of those, but no pictures. I will try to get some up this evening in between playing with the little man and fixing some dinner for us.

Saratoga part 2
Sorry for the delay, Andrew and Daddy had to eat something and then run run run! We went to Lowes, Walmart, and the Farm market store for some yummy veggies and fruit.
Sunday in Saratoga started with us speaking with Kevin and Natasha (and little Anna) figuring out a meeting time and place for the afternoon. Once all logistics were settled the three of us headed out to the race track for Sunday morning breakfast at the track.
Last visit to Saratoga Mom and Dad made it to the track for the tour of the horse prep areas but missed the breakfast. So this time with the rain it worked out well to go to the breakfast trackside. It's a nice morning meal while watching some of the trainers exercise the horses for the morning and prep some of them for their races in the afternoon. It was a lot of fun with Andrew winning the cutest baby award (of course!) with every mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt within sight coming over and playing with the little flirt. He has such a great demeanor that when everyone comes by he loves to smile, giggle and flirt.
After breakfast we toured the grandstand a bit and took a couple of pictures and then we returned to the hotel to get ready for the day. It's a lot easier to be out and going for morning things with Andrew around making sure you are up at the crack of day to see and explore the world!
We went back and Andrew ate some applesauce and some carrots for lunch and we all took a short nap, boy did we need it from an already long morning and it was only 10am!
Met up with Kevin and Natasha with their little daughter Anna (1 1/2 months younger than Andrew) for a day around town and we were supposed to head over to the polo grounds but it was rained out and cancelled for the weekend. We were able to get a good lunch out on a terrace of one of the downtown restaurants and then went for another tour of the downtown (this time during the day). Kevin and Natasha had gotten married in Saratoga Springs and Natasha had spent many weekends there as she grew up not far from Saratoga.
It was fun to see another couple with a young one and exchange stories and laughs together over lunch. Andrew was great and went for a long nap after all of the excitement of the morning and lunch with his friend Anna. They would sit and smile at each other and you could tell that they enjoyed seeing another little person like themselves!
After walking around the many parks and ponds of downtown Saratoga we went over to the indoor carrosel and listened to the music while watching the riders go around and around. Andrew was just waking up from the nap, so we opted not go tkae a ride today as he was staring with the 1000 yd stare as we call it when he just wakes up and probably shouldn't have yet.
Of course once Andrew woke up then Anna took a nap (an even longer one, nearly 1 1/2 hours unheard of for Angela and I!) We went for some more gelato and just sat and talked about kids, our current stories and future dreams for them. It was really fun just getting out with them and getting some more validation for everything that we have gone through as well as them.
It started sprinkling just as we got back to the Gideon Putnum so we opted to get changed and let Anna (who recently went back to sleep), Kevin and Natasha get going back to her parents house for dinner.
Andrew, Momma and I went up and changed for a little warmer outifts and then headed out again to the downtown area for dinner. We decided to have a good meal at one of the steak places right off the main drag and ate out under the awning which was very nice as we were the only ones out there for dinner until near the end of our meal. Andrew was really good the entire mean and just as our main course came out he zonked out so Momma and Daddy had a nice quiet meal with a good bottle of wine and good conversation! Just desert and back to the hotel for a much needed rest for the evening.
Monday morning Daddy took Andrew after eating a little in the morning and playing for a bit in bed let Momma sleep a little and went out for a hike since it wasn't raining for the first time of the weekend. It was a great walk down to the springs and the few geysers that are on the state park followed by a walk around the baths and the old mansion grounds that now makes up the Gideon Putnum park. It was a great time and after the walk Daddy and Andrew came back to see Momma, pack up and head back from a good weekend.
The way home we came straight home only stopping for a little breakfast and a diaper change and feeding or two. Traffic wasn't as bad as we thought it could have been on the holiday weekend, but Andrew still had enough of the truck for his taste. Momma did her best to entertain with the toys that had kept him so quiet and laughing all weekend. But Momma learned a new lesson from this trip. No matter how much you want to use them all, keep a few toys that are "special" for the ride home. We used everything in our reach that was baby safe, from water bottles to unopened chip bags, to even a straw. It barely made it home without all of them "going over the side" which is what happens once Andrew shakes, rattles, and then tastes each toy for a while. Once it has finished it's usefulness it goes over the side of the car seat furthest from Momma so that she can't retrieve the toy and it is in our best translation "lost it's usefulness to me."
It was a great weekend and despite the rain we all enjoyed ourselves and look forward to our next return journey to Saratoga. Perhaps for leaves or winter snowshoeing later this year.

Daddy
Saratoga Springs
Just a quick summary of Saratoga Springs from last weekend...
Though it was raining every day (from Tuesday through Monday!) for a week, the three of us made a great trip up to Saratoga and made Momma and Daddy's anniversary trip a fun one.
Since it was raining on Saturday when we were headed up we decided to take our time rousting out of bed as well as getting the last few things packed in the truck.
We pulled out of the drive around 10am and headed up to the southern "entrance" to the Adirondaks. It was miserable and raining hard all the way up to the NY Thruway (even when we decided to stop on the way out for some coffee and donuts).
The draw of the outlet mall was too much for us and so we decided to take a few hours on the way up to shop and see what they had for the little man and some for the house. Andrew bundled up in his rain slicker and cruised around like a trooper in his "bubble" carriage. He was so cute!
It's almost hard to go out in public with the little guy as everyone stops and comments and just wants to see Andrew coo and smile at everyone he meets. He obliges everyone with a two tooth grin and sometimes a little laugh. Such a smiley and happy little guy! I am so glad as some babies are shy and just stare instead of flashing a smile.
We ended up with some shirts for Daddy, some housewares from William Sonoma, several outfits for the little man (who can resist) as well as a new Coach purse (which had been on ultra clearance and it was a crime I am told to walk out of the store without the light blue purse).
We had a good time walking around and letting Andrew just kind of take it all in from the confines of his rain cover on the stroller.
After a quick bit we were on our way again, finally reaching the Gideon Putnum around 4:30pm. A quick check in, unpacking, and a whole container of sweet potatoes later and we were on the way to enjoying a slightly rainy; more like spitting; and very overcast evening out on the town in Saratoga Springs.
We strolled up and down the shops for a while and decided on a little pub for dinner outside on the sidewalk. The one thing that we really enjoyed about the weekend was the fact that every meal we were able to find restaurants with outdoor dining so we just walked up and parked Andrew next to the tale and we all had comfy seating for the meals!
After dinner we walked and shopped through several stores while the Saratoga Final Stretch jazz and blues fest started to be heard through the town. Very cool how they have things set up with each of the side streets off of main shut off and a differand band on each block outside a storefront or in a parking lot. The three of us really enjoyed listeding to an acoustic group of three singer/guitar players and then wade our way down to G. Willikers, a childrens toy and activity store. We found the set of wooden blocks that we have been looking for and snapped them up so that Andrew could have a little set to play with and knock down.
We made it in for a little Italian hot chocolate and home made gelato to finish off the evening while listening to another band and we were all tuckered out.
Back to the hotel where we were able to use the side rail that we just purchased for Andrew to sleep in a bed without falling out. The rail is too short for the mattress at home, so it was nice to get to use it while out and about at a hotel.
Zzzzzz....
(to be continued, a baby has to eat you know!)
