3 year-old doctor appointment

For our 3-year doctor appointment today we had no shots (yea!) but a finger stick for blood work (boo...).

Visit stats:
Weight - 34 lbs (~75th percentile)
Height - 37 inches (~40th percentile)

After our visit we made a special trip for a morning snack of a donut & milk from Dunkin' Donuts. Yumm!!!

Happy Birthday Andrew!

A few pictures from this evening's birthday festivities. Note the "digger" theme, which was supplemented at last minute by a few Spiderman details. Overall, between the presents and decorations it was a greatest hits for all little boys.

A little boy's dreams.

When Andrew woke up this morning he said the same thing that he has been accustomed to saying for some time now: 'Daddy, I had a good nap.' which is what he has been saying ever since he realized that we always ask him how he slept as one of the first things we talk about in the morning.

This morning, since both Momma and Daddy are working from home, he started with that, but as we let him sleep until he woke up (a whopping 7:55a!) he then said: 'I dreamed about spiders and airplanes going really fast and high.'

This was a first that he said what he was dreaming about, so they must have been good ones. He did wake up twice during the night and was calling for Momma, so it was not a peaceful sleep, even though it was a little longer than normal.

But what we are thinking is that these topics of his dreams could have been brought on by him watching a new 'show' just before bed last night. We found some Spiderman cartoons on Netflix streaming last night and played the episode to a completely mesmerized little boy. He REALLY wanted to watch more Spiderman once it was finished, and we did have some time before getting ready for bed, so we watched the same episode again and again, he really liked it.

So that is where I think that the airplane and the spider came from!

we will see what dreams he comes up with moving forward, I am sure with his vivid imagination there will be some good ones!

New Years Day sledding!

Sofa we are looking at.

Here is the sofa we found at Ikea. This is actually a picture of the configuration that we are looking at as well. To the left will be a coffee table and light of some kind, and this will be in the corner by the closet so that we can relax with a little TV as well as see the fireplace in the basement when curling up with a good book and a tired child!

A bit more snow!

We woke up this morning to a dusting of snow. It is always so peaceful in the back yard after the snow. I think that I will take Andrew out to sled some more this afternoon after our nap.

He likes to go out after a nap, but I always have a hard time getting him out before lunch. Wonder why, but appreciate that he lets me wake up with a cup of coffee and some breakfast before heading out into the cold.

Ikea hats and masks!

We went to Ikea today to check out couches as well as cabinets and get a few odds and ends.

Today was the first time that Andrew was able to try out their play room and he REALLY liked it! Of course, what big boy doesn't like a play area with two huge ball pits, slides and climbing areas as well as a house area to play in and lots of other kids to pal around with?!?!

Our decision has all but been made for the couch we think for the basement, and now it is just a matter of getting our budget together and choosing a couch and other furniture for the basement (and a TV with Tivo) or hold off and get all of the cabinets we want at this point. Roughly the same cost, just need to prioritize!

One item that made a hit with Andrew and Madeline were some 'costumes' made up as masks with hats. Once we got home we immediately pulled them out and Andrew chose to be a dinosaur, and Madeline was volunteered to be our little flower.

They were just too cute running, crawling, stomping, and climbing around with their new costumes on this afternoon. Madeline is turning out to be a really fast crawler and tried her best to keep up with Andrew who was walking on all four hands and feet as a roaring and growling dinosaur! Growl!

It was really quite funny seeing this little flower head chasing her big brother around and she was having a blast.

Andrew chose to be a dinosaur most of the evening and the mask is what makes him so ferocious! For bed time he insisted that Momma be a flower dinosaur and wear her dinosaur hat! (Tee Hee Hee!)

It was fun for everyone!

Momma reading to Andrew in bed as my two dinosaurs!

Our Momma 'flower dinosaur'

Madeline as a cute little flower helping to 'cook' with the other item we got which was a set of small pots, pans, and cooking utensils so that Andrew and Madeline could cook together.

Our growling dinosaur on all fours being scary!

Madeline striking a pose as she was slowing down and deciding that just standing and watching her crazy brother run around was hard enough for a 9 month old!

Or a snowmobile!

We could get a snowmobile Daddy! It is snowing outside after all! (again, 'I'm a big boy daddy, can we get this???')

PLEASE!!!

Lol... I am a big boy now!

Family picture

Here is a scan of the family picture we took while at Amy's house for Christmas. Can't believe this was one of the first pictures and we were all smiling!
