Today we finally conquerred the leaves at the house! Hooray!
Last week, we cleared all of the leaves in the front yard, and yesterday we went out and did the front again since it was Thursday and Friday that the Ginko tree released all of it's leaves.
(Anyone who has never witnessed this it is quite a site. The Ginko tree keeps ALL of it's leaves which turn a brilliant yellow color in the fall. One day (or in this case overnight) it 'decides' to drop ALL of it's leaves! So you wake up one morning and all but three or four leaves remain in this huge tree! It's really quite a site! Angela and I always place bets on the date which it will lose it's leaves. So far we have never hit the day, but we always come close!)
Today, we went out and raked and blew ALL of the leaves in the front and the back yard and dumped them back in the forest. Most years the weather cooperates, and we take several trailers full of leaves to the recycling center, but this year with my eye situation as well as the weather not cooperating on the weekends, we decided just to dump all of the leaves back in piles and hope that they decompose quickly.
It's a big job, and hopefully I can count on Andrew and Madeline helping (or at least jumping in the piles!) in the coming years. It will be fun!
