Yesterday my son showed me that it's not always important to see the "major sites" that you anticipate to see, but sometimes you need to take a side trip to see the world for it's little things.
Momma and I picked up Andrew from school yesterday and on the way home decided that we could go by and see the animals. What fun!
Andrew got out of the truck and we walked over to the duckies house and waved hello to all of the ducks and the now grown up chicks.
On the way over to see the sheep though Andrew heard a sound that brings out the curiosity in him like no other sound does... barking!
So even though we are feet away from a pair of sheep that would really like to see Andrew, flanked on both sides by ducks on one side and goats on the other, we decided to head off for the fence where the Doggy lives and helps protect the farmer's crops.
Unfortunately we were a little late to see the doggie since he was running around in the orchard, but we still kept pointing where the doggie was and patting our chests to "call" for the doggie like we do with Jaz and Racquel.
It was then that I realized as I was trying to redirect my sons attention from the orchard fence to the homes of some of his other friends that it isn't always about the big show in life. Sometimes you just need to find some other diversions that don't quite make it onto the billboard.
Thank you Andrew for reminding Daddy that sometimes you need to look for little diversions, even when you are in front of the main attractions.
