We had a great day today. This morning as you saw Mommy and Andrew took a nice long 3 hour+ nap until around 1pm and then we all went out and took recycling out and then went over to a local park.
The three of us went for a long loop around the park and then we headed back to the parking lot and Momma set by the pond and watched some ducks and a swan while Daddy and Andrew went for another loop. Once Andrew decided that he was starting to get hungry Daddy took Andrew back for a quick feeding and of course diaper change with Mommy on a nice bench by the pond. Daddy took a couple of snaps of course that will be posted later on (once they let me post pictures again tomorrow!).
Once we finished up eating Momma continued relaxing in the sun by the pond while Andrew and Daddy took another turn around the loop. We really enjoyed our first time out at the park!
We came back home for a quick stop and then headed right out again into the gorgeous weather to go shopping for the little man to get some new clothes. Unfortunately he is growing like a weed so his clothes are already being rotated out. We have a couple of bags to donate to the next friend or family member who needs it until Andrew perhaps gets a little brother or sister.
We went to both Babies R Us as well as Old Navy as well as Carter's to pick out his Spring wardrobe. We generally skipped lots of the 3-6 month sized clothes and opted for the 6-9 month size so that we have a fighting chance of keeping them around for more than a couple of weeks! While picking out some of the clothes we also had some fun thinking about the things that Andrew is going to do while wearing some of the clothes. We got some "hiking" clothes as well as some beach clothes that we will be able to use this Summer down and Mike & Cheryl's house for a couple of beach weekends. It was fun, but I can see how we need to try to guess how big he is going to be next year so that we can get some warm clothes off of clearence racks for the guessed sized.
After a great time of clearing out the racks at all three stores we headed home for a nice dinner and some more nap time for Andrew, a little relaxing for Mommy and Daddy and the end of the laundry for Daddy this evening.
Hope all of this activity will allow Andrew to still maintain his normal schedule. Two new developments with Andrew over the past few days. First he has been changing his sleep pattern slightly. He has been more up and at 'em during the day, and also sleeping for longer stints when he does sleep. So he has been having a few naps during this past week of 3 hours instead of just two hours like he has been for the first 5 weeks of his life. We are quite excited about this as it means that he gives Mom and Dad a little longer to get things done between baby feeding and changing episodes.
The second development that is new is that Mom said that during the last day or two he has been not only lifting his head up during tummy time (he's been doing that for several weeks now) but also actually starting to lift his head, neck and chest off of the mat! Daddy can't wait for tomorrow to try to see if Andrew wants to play along and show off by lifting up off the table.
I will update soon to let you know about the results. Daddy is really really excited about that possibility that he has enough core strength to lift up.
Well, off to bed and another fun filled day tomorrow!
