So once he woke up at 1p we got everyone all changed and ready for the road and made it over there just shy of 2pm.
As we drove up we chuckled to ourselves as little 'D' has been asking for a pony party for over a month and the Cif's had been looking at having a pony ride since she started with it, but the costs were just so high.
But as we pulled up, there was a horse trailer just shy of their driveway and we knew then that Andrew could have his first pony ride if he so chose.
He was a little shy at first taking a walk around the sidewalk and taking it all in. While he has always seen horses at the farm we frequent, they are always behind fences. So being in such close proximity to an animal who towers over you can be a little intimidating!
Momma did a great job of letting Andrew get acclimated to the pony and see some of the other kids take their turns riding around the yard to make sure it was safe to get on himself.
D's big brother was the first to ride and really enjoyed it. As Andrew is a big fan of M he paid close attention to him riding around on the pony.
A few other kids took their turns riding around the front yard and the pony was really good with them. Only a few whinnies once in a while which always got a shock then laugh from the kids.
Then it was the birthday girl's turn and she was just beaming with excitement!
Andrew wanted to get up in Momma's arms to get a closer look 'eye to eye' with the pony prior to his ride!
Once it was Andrew's turn, Momma helped him 'saddle up' and he enjoyed it from the start!
Andrew is always a somber face when he tries something new as he is concentrating very hard. We have seen him sit straight faced through first rides on tricycles, merry-go-rounds, swings, slides, and so forth since he was born, but he was a real natural with the pony and was all grins from the moment he sat on the saddle!
Wee, I like riding this pony!
Momma says to hold on tight!
Here I come!
I can hear the backyardigan's singing: 'Riding the range' with this picture!
Once Andrew got off the pony he had to give a love to his new found friend and pet his muzzle and silly nose!
Nice pony!
The pony's owner showing Andrew his teeth!
Thank you for my first pony ride!
Once we were off the horse we ran into the backyard and played with all the other kids on the new swing set, in the sand box and ran all over the house!
Then Andrew remembered that the Cif's have an airplane swing! What a great combination! I love airplanes, and I love to swing, so this is great! (Note the straight face which is usually a sign he is enjoying himself while doing something new as noted above!)
Yummy! D's My Little Pony cake was made out of cupcakes with LOTS of frosting!
Andrew had his cupcake sitting at the table with Mike and Cheryl's daughter L. After the party they came over for the night and we all ate pizza and watched a good thunderstorm before the kids went to bathe and bed.
It was a great party and I have a feeling that Andrew or Madeline might have a pony in the future depending on if we can keep in contact with a neighbor or friend with a pony!
(No Momma, we can't get our own!)
